Lemonade Infused With Ginger

I’ve been sick with a really strong bout of flu for the last two days. Staying home with flu is very boring indeed. Besides, summer is for enjoying the outdoors and going to the beach. It’s not so much for staying in bed with a high temperature, breathing problems, and total lethargy.

Anyway, I’m happy to report that as from about one hour ago I’m feeling a lot better and it looks like tomorrow I can go back to work again. I’m sure my lemonade has something to do with it. I’ve been drinking it throughout the day. The vitamins from the lemons and ginger seems to have done a pretty good job. (The paracetamol I took too).

This lemonade infused with ginger can be considered like the cool summery version of this infusion.

Ingredients:

Lemons – 3  medium sized

Ginger – 2cm piece, peeled

Sugar – 3 tablespoons

Water

Squeeze the juice out of the lemons and pour into a bottle. Put the ginger and sugar in a bowl with a small quantity of water. Boil until the sugar is well dissolved, but not caramelized. This will impede the sugar from crystallizing in the lemonade later on. Remove the ginger and pour the dissolved sugar into the bottle. Fill up the rest of the bottle with water. Chill in the fridge.

      Yeah its yucky. Today I´m way better, but still a bit pathetic…
      I hope you try the lemonade! As you know I´m not great at writing measurements, so you may need to adjust the sugar (and add one or two more tablespoons) to the amount of lemon juice.

    Lemon is great to boost intake of Vitamin C, especially when sick. There’s an old remedy of boiling Coca-cola with lemon which works wonders for flus.

      I hadn’t heard of that one! And would have never thought of boiling Coca-cola, interesting. Have you tried doing it?
