Lunch at Le Mini Palais, Paris

On the day we visited Paris by bicycle, we had lunch at the Mini Palais.

The Mini Palais is located in the Grand Palais which is next to the Petit Palais. That may sound a bit too much.

The Petit Palais (literally meaning Small Palace) is a museum that contains fine arts. In front of it there is the Grand Palais (Big Palace) which holds a gigantic and most beautiful space inside it where high class events and exhibitions are held. When I passed by, it looked like they were setting it up for some event and I wanted to have a peak. Unfortunately I was quickly stopped by a huge grumpy guard. The Mini Palais (Mini Palace) is contained in the building of the Grand Palais and is a restaurant. The Mini Palais has a very big dining room and a terrace area. Luckily the weather was perfect and we got to enjoy the terrace, which holds views to the Petit Palais.

About the food: as you can guess, I had a steak tartare, some rosé wine to accompany. And a dessert afterwards. It was lovely. But I have to admit that it was not incredibly so delicious that you feel like your fluttering up to food heaven while hearing a chorus from the angels with each burst of flavour. It’s simply only very correct. And lovely.

What does make the Mini Palais special is just how beautiful it is. Sitting there, you feel relaxed and charmed. You even feel honoured that you have the opportunity to be there. I would definitely recommend the Mini Palais, even if its just for the amazingly charming surroundings.

Plus there’s a bonus for cat (and bird) lovers, like moi.

Cat, Le Mini Palais, Paris

This cat must live there. Such an aristocat. Just in case you were wondering, this particular cat had no care for the birds whatsoever. Total ignorance to the birds. Totally cool.

Thank you for reading!

Ah, Cat and Birds are friends! Beautiful photos. I will also be honored to have the opportunity to dine at Le Mini Palais. Perhaps, one day I shall travel to Paris.

I can’t say that I’ve ever fancied Steak Tartare. I like a rare steak, but i’ve never thought that completely raw would have as much taste as when a steak is slightly brown around the edges.

I can imagine it can make you uneasy, the first time I ever tried it I did feel uneasy. But once I did, it was fine. Slightly brown steak is great too 🙂

I’ve always fancied steak tartare. I’ve never had the guys to make it myself, but I’ve tried it in small portions at high end food festivals. Just a small plate is good for me, I’m still not sure if I’d want a larger serving of it. I adore raw meat and there’s something wonderful about well seasoned very good quality meat. It feels like it is the way it SHOULD be eaten.

I also love beef carpaccio and tataki. I think of all these as the similar dishes.

I bet the kitty likes some steak tartare too.

I’ve never had the guts to make it myself either, and am not sure if I ever will.. This was well seasoned. I adore sushi too (ok thats fish its different).
Maybe the kitty was given some from the cook, because he didn’t seem the least bit fazed with anything!
