Carnival in the Market

In my neighbourhood, people love to party. I never know what I’ll bump into, so bringing my camera with me is usually a must.

Spain has plenty of indoor markets – which is great for when there is unusually bad weather, don’t you think? A few weeks ago I went to my local indoor market to find some fish. Despite the fact that Barcelona is not an official celebrator of carnival, look what was happening there…

I wish! This looks like a group of transplanted Brazilians from Rio de Janeiro! The color, the dancing, the costumes, the music–it has to be fabulous to live in Barcelona…

Great photos, just missed a group who put on a Holi festival in Seattle last weekend as I headed down to Oregon to visit my family. Spontaneous events are great…I think the fun of finding them adds to the excitement.

Oh damn I would have loved to see that! You might need to carry your camera around your neck everywhere just in case. In my case, mine is small enough to put in my bag… You can find lots of great spontaneous things in my neighbourhood from people dressed giants, people making human towers, food festivals, and other amazing stuff you might not believe (hint: they love running around throwing firecrackers at each other…). You’d probably love it!

Me too, one goal is to be in India one day to experience Holi… Throwing firecrackers at each other, running around…all in the spirit of a festival, yes I would love it! Cheers!

I hope you do set to experience Holi in India! Running around with fire crackers, people bring their dogs and you can see the poor things are scared to death! (as are many of the humans).

Growing up, our dogs also hated fireworks…they really were terrified of the sounds, and it is strange as they were hunting dogs and very use to the sound of guns.
