Sant Pol del Mar

Seeing it’s Friday, how about some photos of one of my favourite beach towns up the coast north of Barcelona? Just so that we can start dreaming about a lovely summery weekend ahead.

As you can observe, in Spain, not even the beach savers cabins are free from graffiti. While they were at it, they could have at least done it artistically.

One of the cool things about the train systems around Barcelona is that there are trains that go south and north along the coast. They stop at many beach towns, and just like here at Sant Pol you just need to hop off the train, walk a few steps and you’re on the beach.

Thank you for visiting!

Lovely photos Sofia! They’re making me yearn for Summer, especially that perfect aquamarine water. Love the beautiful entrance to the train tunnel and what looks like a very grand white building in the distance, up on the hill.

Hi Saskia, I love the entrance to the tunnel too, and all those “layers” of buildings and streets on top of it. xx

Dreamy photos! I love your term for lifeguards, too . . .”beach savers.” I may adopt that term.

Hahaha guess what, I had accidentally forgotten the term for lifeguards at that instance, I was thinking, body guards aren’t it, so I sort of made it up. I was hoping someone would be kind enough to remind me the right word 🙂 so thank you!

Gorgeous photos, such blue skies and water. Makes me long for the beach on this hot summer day. Instead, I’m stuck in the office for a few more hours. I’ll just keep staring at these photos for a while longer…. Happy weekend, Sofia!

Wow, nothing at all like a great beach with such a great sky/water/town to enjoy. Having a train system like you describe going along the coastline would be incredible. Great 7th shot, the tunnel/tracks under such an interesting hill is worth a photo itself, but having the family cross the tracks makes it so much more interesting.

I made quite a few shots of the tunnel with the hill on top, and even though lots of people were crossing all the time, I chose that one because of the family crossing! 🙂 I like the train system, not just for the convenience as such, but also as a passenger, just looking out the window and seeing the sea is cool.

Isn’t it great when something/someone steps inside of a shot that makes it “that much better” 🙂 Agree with you, kickin’ back on a train and watching beautiful scenery roll-on by is very cool. Cheers!

Actually on these trains, sometimes the tracks are on a bridge like suspended on a cliff and when you look out the window it feels like you’re sort of in the air and the Mediterranean is underneath. It’s beautiful but very uncanny at the same time…
