Le Touquet Winter Sunset

“Come, gentlemen, I hope we shall drink down all unkindness.”

– William Shakespeare

Another year has ended, and a fresh new year begins. My new year began in the north of France and in Le Touquet, with foie gras, oysters, champagne and friends I hadn’t seen in a while. Plus the first lunch of the year was spent with my lovely friend Darya, which is such a great way to begin the new year. I hope 2016 will be full of happiness for everyone.

A Winter Walk Along the Beach at Le Touquet

This winter has began with a heatwave. The 8ºC heatwave allowed to me enjoy a stroll around the beach of Le Touquet, on the French side of the English Channel. Instead of being blown away by an icy cold wind, as what usually happens, I could actually take my hands out of my gloves and pockets to make some photos of the winter sunset.

As always, delightful photos, Sofia! We had a warm Christmas Day of 80ºF (26ºC) and then a few days later, snowflakes and 1ºC! Hahaha!

Yes, actually, I did enjoy the snowflakes. It’s such an unusual occurrence this far south. And, thankfully, we don’t have to shovel it mounds and mounds of it!

Oh I miss the beach. When I was in Perth, I’d go to Cottesloe beach quite often, even during winter. It’s just 15 minutes away… but now, the closest beach is about an hour’s drive, and it’s not even pretty 🙁
Sounds like you had a fantastic new year, Sofia! I haven’t been to Europe before. One day I will!

I used to go to Cottesloe beach too! By brother lives there now since a few years ago and goes to that beach all the time too 🙂 Oh no, so you’re quite inland then?
I do hope you come to Europe (and we’ll meet up if we’re nearby!). HAve a beautiful new year xx

It has been really too warm here for the last month. It is messing about with all the plants and creatures.
